via Daily Prompt: Passport

In Airports traveled round the globe

I wait and watch humanity
As children play awaiting word
From parents on the need to board

At airport gates with teary eyes
Love lingers, one last kiss, a brush
As loved ones part ’till who knows when
Or never more to meet again

Uncommon in their gait and gaze
All colours of the human wheel
On aero planes back to their lands
Rich coloured passports in their hands

A seeming non essential book
Provides entitlement to those
Who go wherever oft they long
And back again where they belong

Hold tight this privilege close to heart
Don’t let complacency set in
If time in line without it stand
You’re stateless in a foreign land
